Marchellya Ridzqi Amanda, a student of the English Education Study Program at Universitas PGRI Wiranegara from the Class of 2024, proudly participated in the annual Maliki English Festival 2025. On November 8, 2025, she competed in the singing category and successfully secured third place in the audition round.

Achieving third place represents more than just a position—it reflects her undeniable excellence in pronunciation, intonation, and expressive delivery. Her achievement demonstrates the capability of English Education Study Program students of Universitas PGRI Wiranegara to compete confidently and globally. With her passion and impactful presence, Marchellya serves as an inspiration to her peers. She is not only academically capable, but also influential and committed to growth.

Behind her success lies a story of dedication, doubt, and resilience. Marchellya shared that she had strong confidence in herself because she had practiced intensely. She did not want to disappoint Ma’am Ana, the Head of the English Education Study Program, and she was grateful for BAU, which helped facilitate her practice by making key borrowing easier. Despite this confidence, she also faced moments of insecurity. Competing against participants who performed powerful songs—such as Moana’s iconic piece—and the gentle emotionality of “Favorite Lesson,” she admitted she felt intimidated and nearly hopeless.

As the announcement began, she told herself, “If I’m not called for third place, that means I didn’t win at all.” But then, her name was announced as the third-place winner. She was completely speechless. Overjoyed and relieved, she felt proud to have surpassed strong competitors, especially the one who performed the Moana song she found particularly impressive.

One of the biggest obstacles she faced was her own vocal condition. As someone who frequently works as a live host, her voice was worn out—hoarse, weak, and easily strained. To overcome this, she committed to intensive self-care: avoiding spicy food, staying away from iced drinks, getting enough rest, and consuming kencur to restore her vocal strength. Her discipline paid off, and on the day of the competition, her voice was in a much better condition.

Marchellya’s journey is a reminder that success is earned through perseverance, courage, and self-belief. Her story will continue to inspire many to pursue their dreams with dedication and resilience.
